1.
It’s a glorious day The wind blows through the window that way and to myself I say it’s a glorious, glorious day The clouds stretch out like cotton in the fray floating on parade of a glorious, glorious day Never mind the city limits, take it out of town Get on to the highway, wind the window down There’s no reason to delay on a glorious, glorious day Kids run through the flicking sprinkler spray They’re all coming out to play on a glorious, glorious day Your eyes were frozen, staring at the sky Your eyes were frozen and I thought you had died Thinking I could go that way on a glorious, glorious day
2.
I don’t think I set the record straight You were never meant to carry that weight Don’t you worry about a thing my dear The only place that I will be is here Don’t pray for rain, cause you’ll just complain when you get wet I don’t know why I always stay at home Waiting for the concrete to erode I should be a little more like you and go and find something better to do So I won’t pray for rain, cause I’ll just complain and it’s all the same when it falls on my head
3.
It’s not trivial The fact is not a mystery Nor can I deny that it means much to me Honestly, can you tell me please what it means to you It's not trivial It’s an aeroplane Roaring through the sky and you call me insane You say I’ve changed But I think you’ve changed if you think that way It’s not trivial It’s written in history If you close your eyes than baby it’s hard to see Honestly, can you tell me please It’s not trivial It’s not trivial It was meant to be So why do you refuse to take it gracefully? Honestly, can you tell me please what you’re gonna do?
4.
Slowdance 03:34
I love to slowdance and hum the tune of that old record that fills the room to hold her closely rock like the sea I love her dearly and she loves me She treats me kindly keeps me in stead I’m always dreaming as I am lead across the ballroom across the hall We never stumble I’ll never fall I started dancing when I was three When we are children we are more free We learn to grow up and run and fly but we’ll be dancing until we die
5.
Some things are better left unsaid Keep that saying inside your head Peaceful and quiet, a good way to be If something needs saying then say it to me I ain’t afraid of speaking my mind It’s down in the gutter most of the time And nobody hears if I speak in a drone and angle away from the microphone I ain’t afraid of asking for help It’s better than fucking it up by myself I can’t read the signals you send with your eyes And your expectations, they dress in disguise You keep it hid You know that I would come looking for it if you did Sip on your tea before it goes cold Did you notice it’s there? Do you need to be told? And stop going back on the things that you say You’ll be gone tomorrow but you love me today I’m educated inside and out I fear when I’m silent, I fear when I shout And I ain’t got secrets no I ain’t got lies So tell me your worries and I’ll tell you mine

about

'Kinship, the debut independent release by Luke Brennan, is the fruit of six months of recording in various studios and homes in Melbourne. Furthermore, it is the fruit of years of writing through phases of life: a short reel of candid flashbacks from different environments, cities, loved ones and states of mind.
